about us
Welcome to saint chad's church

Welcome to St Chad’s!
We are a Church of England parish in the heart of Lichfield.
This website tells you about who we are and what we do – you are very welcome to come and see. Our churches – at St Chad’s itself and at Elmhurst – are places of quiet and peace where all are welcome.
Our community life is diverse, with a place for everyone. Our services and other activities are based on our main conviction – that God’s love, seen most clearly in Jesus Christ, is for each of us, and that we can enter into a loving relationship with God through the Holy Spirit. You don’t have to be important in the world’s eyes to relate to God. You don’t have to be rich, famous or clever. God welcomes each of us, as we are, and opens up new possibilities for our lives. We are all special in God’s sight, and loved.
Why not find out more by coming to one of our events or contacting us?
May you know God’s peace, love and blessing in your life

history
We are privileged to be part of an ancient heritage, going back to St Chad himself, who founded a church on this site in 669. From the beginning, its ministry and mission was based on baptism, as symbolised by the well near the church.
It has had a long and varied history, from a Celtic and Saxon monastery, to being destroyed in the English Civil War, all the way to being a lively parish church today at the heart of its community.

Being such an ancient and sacred site through its connections to St Chad, our church is also a place of pilgrimage, and is at the one end of the Two Saints Way pilgrimage route between Lichfield and Chester Cathedral. To find out more about the Two Saints Pilgrimage, click on the link below:
elmhurst

Within the parish we have the village of Elmhurst, which includes within it a beautiful Mission Church. It's secluded location but close proximity to Lichfield means that it is ideal for Quiet Days and Day Retreats. Click on the link below to find out more:
