BEHIND THE SCENES
Much hard work goes into getting the church ready for a service and even just having it look lovely and nice during the week. Here are only a few of the many jobs that get done...
Fellowship after our services and at our many church events is an integral part of the community at St Chad's. As many of us agree, there's nothing like
a Cup of Tea! A situation cannot fail to be improved on and a friendly atmosphere cannot fail to be created when a nice hot cuppa is present! (Unless it happens
to be accompanied by chocolate of course!). A team of tireless and dedicated people know this to be true and provide this much appreciated service.
We are lucky at St. Chad's to have a group of flower arrangers who use their skills to provide the flowers in church weekly, except during Lent and Advent. We all get together at the Festivals to decorate the church and enjoy fellowship over a cup of coffee. We welcome new people to the team, so if you think you'd like to help please contact the Parish Office and
leave a message for Rita Loveday and Sue Gillett
Altar Set-up Team
The set-up team has currently ten members who work in pairs. They spend about 3/4hr. every Saturday afternoon getting church ready for Sunday worship. After the 8a.m. communion they spend another short time, about 15 minutes, rearranging church for the 9.30 a.m. Eucharist. Our Sacristan, makes these duties so much easier by coming into church midweek, and putting all the linen ready and also is responsible for ordering the candles, the communion wine, the wafers, and the tapers.
A HUGE thank you to the members of the Mothers Union who wash and iron the
Grounds & Buildings
Faithfully and tirelessly many of St Chad's help maintain and care for the Church, the Church Hall, Well Cottage and the land that surrounds these buildings. Without the many small jobs and some extremely large ones that are taken care of by those special people, St Chad's Church would not be the place you see now!
