Mercia Prayer Gathering and Well Cottage Chapel On Friday 21st July there will be a gathering for prayer at St Chad’s from 10.00am till 3.00pm.
This is the latest in a series of prayer events I have been involved in – praying around key spiritual sites from the ancient kingdom of Mercia and seeking the Lord’s direction for the future for our region.
We will pray in the church and at the well. You are very welcome to join this ecumenical event – please let me know if you plan to come. Interestingly the 21st July is the 70th anniversary of the laying of the Well Cottage Foundation Stone. We are moving
forward with the development of a prayer chapel in Well Cottage. Decorating is now virtually complete and we hope to open this chapel once we have sorted out some internal furnishings. We intend to dedicate the Chapel to St Mary – as this was the initial dedication of St Chad’s church. Rod Clark
Our Mothers’ Union are going to Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood on Thursday 27th July,
followed by a tea, display and service at All Saints Denstone in the afternoon. We have some spare seats on the coach. Please speak to Shirley or Val if you are interested in booking. The cost is £10.00 for the coach and £7.90 to enter the hall or museum at Sudbury (group rate), but free to National Trust members. Leaving 10.00am, returning about 6.00pm.
To celebrate Lisa Mitchell's and Josh Penduck's work at St Chad's we will hold a garden party at the Rectory on Sunday 30th July starting at 3.00pm. We hope many will want to join us and express their love,
support and blessing in their new ventures. The aim is for a bring and share event - bring a chair, bring a gazebo (might rain), bring some food and drink, and bring yourselves. Please let us know what you can bring and if you are able to help with the practical arrangements. Rod and Linda.
